Sandi CUTLER is a nationally recognized leader in natural medicine and the public policy issues related to the integration of natural health sciences into health care. In addition to his work with LDI Group he also currently serves as Vice-President for Institutional Planning and Public Affairs at Bastyr University.

Mr. Cutler brings to LDI over thirty years experience in fields related to politics, public issues management, strategic planning, organizational development, healthcare information technology, and education. Beginning in the early 1970's he pioneered sophisticated applications of direct marketing and the use of inquiry management systems for such corporate clients as Intel, Willams-Sonoma, and Apple Computer. He subsequently focused these same tools in the political arena while running one of California's largest political campaign management firms in the late 1070's and early 1980's.

After relocating to the Seattle area, Mr. Cutler served as Finance Director and Operations Manager for the successful 1984 campaign for Governor of California, and subsequently served as a senior political consultant in Washington State. In 1985 he joined First Class Communications, a leading direct response marketing company, where he held the position of Senior Vice-President and Director of Operations. In this position he was directly responsible for development and implementation of numerous sophisticated direct-response marketing programs, including responsibility for Alaska Airlines Gold Coast Travel Frequent Flyer program and customer retention programs for Westin Hotels, Airborne Freight, Princess Cruise Lines, and other national firms.

 

In 1990 Sandi joined the senior management staff of Bastyr University, then known as John Bastyr College of Naturopathic Medicine. He has held a number of positions at Bastyr over the past 14 years including Senior Counsel, Director of Planning and Special Programs, Vice-President for External Affairs, and Vice-President for Finance and Administration in addition to his current position. During that time Bastyr has grown from an enrollment of approximately 150 students to well over 1,300 students. Mr. Cutler continues to hold primary institutional responsibility for strategic and institutional planning, organizational development, and the management of significant new institutional ventures.

 

In addition to his professional work Mr. Cutler has held leadership positions in many organizations involved in the public policy arena related to complementary and alternative medicine. He has served as Board President and Executive Director of Citizens for Health and currently represents Bastyr University as a co-founder of the Campaign for Better Health. In 2002-2003 he was instrumental in successful efforts to secure licensure of naturopathic doctors in California.
